Blacksmithing: from Orichalcum to Dragon Lord
How Aion 2's weapon-crafting profession works: what it makes, how the Splendent chain carries you from Orichalcum to Dragon Lord weapons, the official success odds and what it costs.
What Blacksmithing makes
Blacksmithing is one of Aion 2's five crafting professions (Blacksmithing, Armorsmithing, Handicrafting, Alchemy, Cooking). It makes the melee weapons and the shield; armour is Armorsmithing, a separate profession.
| Family | Used by |
|---|---|
| Longsword | Templar |
| Greatsword | Gladiator |
| Dagger | Assassin |
| Mace | Cleric |
| Guard (shield) | every class |
It also makes Orichalcum Ingots, Balaur Horns and its own rank-up hammers. Every recipe exists once for Elyos and once for Asmodians.
Proficiency and ranks
- Proficiency is per profession and rises with every craft. Recipes are learned automatically; there are no recipe scrolls to buy.
- The higher your proficiency is above a recipe's, the better your success chance.
- At proficiency 50 progress stops until you rank up. Elyos take the quest "[Upgrade] Blacksmithing Specialty Skill" from Sindri, Artisan Blacksmith, in Verteron: craft a Novice Blacksmith's Hammer (6 Orichalcum Ingot + 3 Odyle) and receive Blacksmithing Upgrade: Professional.
- The next rank uses the Professional Blacksmith's Hammer, crafted at proficiency 100 from an Artisan's Splendent weapon and Balaur Horns.
The global proficiency cap appears to be 100; Korea's is higher. Check in game before planning past 100.
The Splendent chain
Every weapon tier has two outcomes. A normal success gives the base weapon. A combo gives its Splendent version, and only the Splendent version is accepted by the next tier's recipe. Never sell a Splendent weapon you still need to climb.
| Tier | Proficiency | Inputs per craft | Normal result | Combo result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Orichalcum Ingot | 1 (×10 batch at 25) | 2 Orichalcum Ore + 1 Orichalcum Solvent | Orichalcum Ingot | — |
| Common | 3 (Guard 5) | 3 Orichalcum Ingot + 5 Refining Stone + 2 Odyle | Orichalcum weapon, iLvl 22 | Splendent, iLvl 30 |
| Expert's | 15 (Guard 20) | 1 Splendent + 5 Expert's Refining Stone + 6 Fine Orichalcum Ore + 3 Fine Odyle | Expert's, iLvl 38 | Expert's Splendent, iLvl 46 |
| Artisan's | 30 (Guard 35) | 1 Expert's Splendent + 5 Artisan's Refining Stone + 8 Pure Orichalcum Ore + 4 Pure Odyle | Artisan's, iLvl 52 | Artisan's Splendent, iLvl 60 |
| True Dragon Lord | 55 (Guard 60) | 1 Artisan's Splendent + 4 Artisan's Ultimate Refining Stone + 22 Fine Thick Balaur Horn + 10 Wrathful Mind + 9 Radiant Orichalcum Ore + 5 Radiant Odyle |
The Asmodian names differ at the top (True becomes Star, White becomes Dark, Wise becomes Ebony). White and Wise Dragon Lord follow the same pattern with more and harder horns plus Wrathful Will and Wrathful Ego.
Item levels, attack ranges and grades are NC's own item data. Recipe inputs and quantities come from the community datamine of the global client (questlog.gg), not from an NC publication.
Success and combo odds
NC publishes crafting odds on its Korean probability portal; the global rates are assumed to match.
- Every weapon recipe has a 25% combo chance. Materials (ingots, horns) never combo.
- At equal proficiency the base success rate is 95.2% for ingots and horns, 74.0% for Common, 76.8% for Expert's, 79.6% for Artisan's and 67.5% for Dragon Lord.
- Each point of proficiency above the recipe raises it, up to about 93–97%.
- Being hit while crafting cancels the craft, and a cancelled craft counts as a failure.
See every recipe's odds by proficiency lead, and how many attempts to expect, in the crafting odds tool.
Materials and where they come from
- Orichalcum Ore and Odyle: gathered. Every node can yield all four grades (base, Fine, Pure, Radiant). Elyos gather in Verteron and Eltnen, Asmodians in Altgard and Morheim; Odyle also in Chaotic Lower Reshanta. See the gatherables list.
- Refining Stones: drops from monsters and dungeons and supply requests. The Artisan's Ultimate Refining Stone comes only from dungeon and raid rewards.
- Wrathful Mind, Will and Ego: dungeon and raid rewards; tradable.
- Balaur Horns: crafted from 2 Balaur's Essence (a named-monster drop) and one vendor hammer.
- Vendor consumables (Blacksmith Merchant, community prices): Orichalcum Solvent 400 Kinah; Zircon, Lazuli and Moonstone Hammer 4,650 / 5,600 / 6,550 Kinah.
The Balaur's Essence used for horns is a different item from the enhancement material "Balaur's Essence (Bound)".
What it costs
Crafting itself is free; the Kinah goes on vendor consumables. Worked from community prices and quantities:
- One Common weapon: 3 ingots × 1 Solvent = 1,200 Kinah.
- One True Dragon Lord weapon: 22 Fine Thick Balaur Horns × 1 Zircon Hammer = 102,300 Kinah in hammers, plus 44 Balaur's Essence.
Practical tips
- Start with your own class's weapon family; the Guard is usable by every class.
- Keep every Splendent result: it is a future input.
- The Artisan's Splendent weapon is the key item: it feeds both the Dragon Lord recipe and the next rank-up hammer.
- Crafting your own gear avoids the market's listing and sale fees.
What is not known yet for global
- Korea also has Celestial, Obsidian and Noble Dragon Lord tiers. Their items exist in the global data, but no global recipe has been seen for them yet.
- The global proficiency cap and the next rank-up quest are not confirmed.
- Which profession makes Gauntlets at global is not confirmed.
