A duelling Gladiator on the gear you already have: knock them down, hit them while they are down and outlast their burst with Tenaciousness.
You do not need a second set for PvP. Put the gear you already wear on its own preset, reroll the armour towards shrugging off stuns, and move a few skill points:
Aerial Snare and
Survival Willpower go to 10, and Crushing Wave and Sword Aura Rampage, which only hits staggered monsters, drop to 1.
Get in with
Leaping Slam or
Rush Strike, then wait for them to burn their crowd-control break before you throw
Mocking Blade. It grabs and knocks down every time it lands on someone who is not immune, and
Overhead Slam only hits a target that is already on the floor.
Aerial Snare keeps them in the air a little longer. When their burst comes,
Tenaciousness makes you untouchable for three seconds.
On a healer or anyone running away, open with
Blade Toss instead. It cuts their healing and their defence for ten seconds.
| Against | What to do |
|---|---|
| Assassin | They open from stealth. Keep your break and Tenaciousness for that opener, not the rest. |
| Ranger | They kite. Use your gap closers one at a time, after they have jumped away. |
| Cleric | Hard to kill, easy to starve. Blade Toss first, then the knockdown. |
| Templar | Long fights drain your MP. Rending Blow at 19 gives it back on crits; use it. |
| Stigma | Level | In a fight |
|---|---|---|
| 20 | Faster on your feet, and crits can take a second off every cooldown | |
| 10 | Three seconds immune to damage and control, then 20% of your HP back when it ends | |
| 10 | Two Parries in a row, usable while moving | |
| 5 | Cuts their healing by 70% and their defence by 30% for 10 seconds |
Every armour piece carries Status Effect Resist and HP, with Accuracy or Critical Hit Resist beside them and one passive line; you want to get out of their stuns fast and not miss your own. The greatsword and the guard roll Status Effect Chance, Accuracy and Combat Speed. The Fierce Battle Amulet adds 20% PvP damage, the Abyssal manastones carry PvP Attack, PvP Critical Hit, PvP Critical Hit Resist and PvP Defence, and Heladrir's Chains on the weapon can root someone who tries to run. Brawler Wings and Saint of Ereshkigal round it off.
The PvP board opens at 45 and fills from its own crystals, 36 from Ereshkigal's Monolith and 110 from the Abyss Shop over the season. The board here holds its first nodes; the rest goes into PvP damage, PvP defence and then Status Effect Resist. None of it counts in PvE, which is why the PvE build leaves it closed.
