Ranger PvE build: skills, stigmas, boards, arcana and gear priorities

Two arrow lines on one macro, Vaizel's Authority at the top of the stigma levels, Gale kept up all fight, and the gear rolls that make a Ranger hit harder.
Ranger is a bow class that wins by staying out of reach. In a dungeon you stand 10 to 20 metres off the boss, keep two arrow lines turning on one macro, and spend your cooldowns in short, planned windows. Nothing here needs fast hands. It does need you to keep Gale up, keep the boss slowed and never wander inside 5 metres.
How it plays
Your damage comes from three layers. The macro lines on Q and right click do the steady work.
Vaizel's Authority,
Bow of Blessing and
Supporting Fire are the burst window.
Deadshot is the one big hit you charge yourself, between macro cycles.
Most Ranger passives trigger off a state the target is in: slowed, bleeding, burning, or hit by a crit. Half the class is keeping those states on the boss so the passives keep firing.
Skills
| Skill | Aim for | Specializations | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20 | 3, 4, 5: mobile, stronger Gale on fewer targets, -10s cooldown | Gale gives +7% Combat Speed and +7% PvE Damage Boost, up to 15% on a single boss with spec 4. With -10s the 10s cooldown matches the 10s buff, so it never drops. | |
| 20 | 3, 4, 5: +20% Skill Speed, Multi-Hit, fires one extra time | The Bleed is a damage over time effect, which is what Concentrated Fire |
Marking Shot's knockback spec looks free but it pushes trash out of your 4-metre arrow area. Take the Perfect Chance instead.
Passives
Level all of them; the order below is where the next point goes.
- +100 Accuracy, +1% PvE Damage Boost and +0.2% Double Chance. Accuracy is the stat Rangers run short of first.
- +6% Critical Damage Boost. Everything you build adds crit, so this multiplies all of it.
Revitalization Contract,
Wind Vigor and
Unyielding Resolve come last. Revitalization's heal at 10% HP turns a wipe into a recovery, so it goes first of the three.
Stigmas
Four slots, and four stigmas that fit together:
| Stigma | Role | What each 5 levels adds |
|---|---|---|
| Main burst, 60s | +10% Perfect Chance at 5, Concentrated Fire x1.5 at 10, Hunter's Soul x1.5 at 15, 50% chance to cut all cooldowns by 1s on crit at 20, +10% Weapon Damage Boost at 25 | |
| Crit window, 120s | +50% Multi-Hit at 5, +100 Accuracy at 10, +20% Critical Damage Boost at 15, +7% Double Chance at 20, +5s at 25 | |
| Free damage | 50% shot chance at 5, 30s duration at 10, -30s cooldown at 15, shots always crit at 20 | |
| AoE and damage over time |
Stigma effects stack as the stigma levels, so the level is the build. Take Vaizel's Authority highest; at 20 it is the strongest thing on your bar. A first week at 45 looks like 10, 10, 10 and 5; a finished Ranger sits near 20, 15, 15 and 10.
Keys and rotation
| Key | Skills (fires the lowest one that is ready) |
|---|---|
| Q | |
| Right click | |
The game ships with no macro key bound. Set it to right click, then hold right click and Q with left click. The stacks do the priority for you: Gale is cast the moment it is up, Griffon Arrow goes out whenever it comes off cooldown, and Burst Arrow only lands once Snare Shot has slowed the target.
Burst window, every minute:
- Marking ShotPrecision first; it feeds Deadshot and Suppressing Arrow.
- Vaizel's Authoritythen Bow of Blessing and Supporting Fire right behind it.
- Deadshotcharge it fully while all three are up.
Daevanion boards
| Board | Opens | Why you go there | Nodes, first week / finished |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12 | Combat Speed and Cooldown Reduction uniques, plus levels for Drill Dart, Deadshot, Gale Arrow, Snipe and two each for Focused Eye and Hunter's Resolve | 63 / 88 | |
| 20 | Damage Boost and Accuracy uniques, two levels each for Hunter's Soul and Rooting Eye | 55 / 88 | |
| 30 | Four Critical Damage Boost nodes | 58 / 64 | |
On the way to the unique nodes, take skill levels for Deadshot, Gale Arrow, Drill Dart, Snipe, Tempest Shot, Snare Shot and Burst Arrow, then Focused Eye, Hunter's Soul, Concentrated Fire, Vigilant Eye and Hunter's Resolve. Fill with Attack, Accuracy, Critical Hit, Combat Speed, Damage Boost and HP, in that order.
Arcana
Each arcana carries an Empyrean Lord stat and skill levels. Every Lord point adds 0.1% to two effects.
| Arcana | Lord stat | What it gives you | Skill levels to look for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Time | Combat Speed, Double Resist | Snipe, Tempest Shot, Focused Eye, Hunter's Resolve | |
| Life | HP, Regeneration | Drill Dart, Snipe, Tempest Shot, Burst Arrow | |
| Freedom | Accuracy, Evasion | Deadshot, Gale Arrow, Burst Arrow | |
| Justice | Defense, Perfect Chance | Hunter's Resolve, Revitalization Contract, Vigilant Eye, Rooting Eye | |
Run Vigor on Chalice, Parchment, Compass and Bell, and Magic on the Mirror. Freedom on the Compass covers accuracy while your gear is still thin, and Justice's Perfect Chance stacks with Vaizel's Authority and Marking Shot. Once bosses stop dodging you, a
Arcana: Compass of Magic (Bound) trades that accuracy for Death (Critical Hit), and a
Arcana: Bell of Magic (Bound) trades Justice for Destruction (Attack).
If you only chase four skill levels, chase Deadshot, Gale Arrow, Snipe and Drill Dart.
Gear and soul binding
Bow:
Spiritforged Bow at +10 to start,
Aulamus Bow at +15 at the top. Off-hand guard:
Unyielding Guard, then
Vakron Guard.
Each armour slot has one stat only it can roll; aim for that first, then skill levels for Focused Eye and Hunter's Resolve.
| Slot | First pick | Then |
|---|---|---|
| Bow | Weapon Damage Boost | Combat Speed, Might, Precision, Damage Boost, Multi-hit Chance, Attack |
| Guard | Weapon Damage Boost | Combat Speed, Damage Boost, Might, Precision, Multi-hit Chance, Attack |
| Helm | Incoming Heal | Focused Eye, Hunter's Resolve, Double Chance, Attack increase, Critical Hit |
| Pauldrons | Critical Damage Boost | Focused Eye, Hunter's Resolve, Accuracy, Critical Hit, Attack |
| Breastplate | Damage Boost | Focused Eye, Hunter's Resolve, Critical Hit, Accuracy, Attack |
| Greaves | Damage Tolerance | Focused Eye, Hunter's Resolve, Perfect Chance, Attack increase, Critical Hit |
| Gloves | Combat Speed | Focused Eye, Hunter's Resolve, Perfect Chance |
| Boots | Move Speed | Focused Eye, Hunter's Resolve, Perfect Chance |
Accessories
- Earrings and necklace: Focused Eye and Hunter's Resolve skill levels, then Accuracy, Critical Hit, Attack.
- Rings: skill levels for Gale Arrow, Deadshot, Tempest Shot and Drill Dart, then Burst Arrow, then Attack.
- Brooch: Might, Precision, Accuracy, Critical Hit, Constitution.
- Amulet:
Revelation Amulet. Its Weapon Damage Boost and Perfect Chance fit the class exactly.
Manastones and theostones
Manastones roll Attack, Accuracy Bonus, Critical Hit and defensive stats. Keep Attack, Accuracy Bonus and Critical Hit. Start on hageup-maseok and move to junggeup-maseok once your gear is final.
For theostones, take two different ones; identical theostones only apply once.
Theostone: Zikel's Vestige on the bow and
Theostone: Tassin's Command on the guard. Proc damage is close enough between theostones that you should take whatever you have two of rather than farm a specific one.
Wings and titles
Every wing you own adds its owned effect, so leveling a collection is worth as much as the pair you wear. debaui-choesanggeup-nalgae is the pair everyone has. When you get them, wear:
- jamsikdoen-geumbit-nalgae — Max Attack, 5% Multi-Hit Chance and Front Attack Damage Boost.
- gongheoui-talriseura-nalgae — Attack, Accuracy and 4% Cooldown Reduction.
- heosangui-meari-nalgae — Max Attack, Critical Hit and 5% Perfect Chance.
Wings worth leveling for their owned effects: pureun-jeongwangui-nalgae, ilkkaeun-geungjiui-nalgae, pureun-padoui-nalgae, tusaui-nalgae, deuramata-dungjiui-nalgae, sup-jeongryeongui-nalgae, akmongui-nalgae, guwonbateun-tarakui-nalgae, plus the three above and the Ultimate Daeva pair.
| Slot | Take | Better once you have it |
|---|---|---|
| Attack | ||
| Defense |
Guardian of Verteron and Saint of Verteron come from the Verteron Monolith at levels 20 and 30, so they are the ones you have first. Unbound by Genus needs Genus Insight mastered; Empty Closet adds Combat Speed to the cooldown cut, but it takes 700 skins.
Genus Insight
Genus Insight has five boards: Cogni, Natura, Fera, Varian and Special. They share most lines.
| Line | Take |
|---|---|
| 1 and 5 | Max Attack, then Attack Bonus |
| 2 and 8 | HP % |
| 3, 6 and 9 | Critical Hit or Accuracy; Power Shard only once both are where you want them |
| 4 | Cogni: Critical Damage Boost, then Damage Boost. Fera: Weapon Damage Boost, then Damage Boost. Varian: Front Damage Boost. Natura (4 and 7): Multi-Hit or Perfect Chance. Special: Double Chance |
| 7 | Damage Tolerance or PvE Damage Tolerance, then Endurance |
Pantheon
- Colossus: colossus-of-zikel first; it adds Destruction and Death, both damage stats.
- Sculptures: Freedom, Death and Space.
- Paintings: Illusion and Wisdom, then Life.
Wisdom feeds Double Chance and Illusion cuts cooldowns, which matters for a class that lives on its 60s buffs.
Mistakes
- Standing inside 5m. You lose
Melee Fire procs and eat the cleaves meant for the tank. - Letting Gale drop. Take the -10s cooldown spec and it never does.
- Burst Arrow on a target that is not slowed. It will not fire; Snare Shot goes first.
- Firing Deadshot without Precision. Marking Shot first is a free +35%.
- Leveling every stigma evenly. Vaizel's Authority to 20 before the others pass 15.
- Wearing two identical theostones. Only one counts.
- Saving Defiance for later. It has its own key; use it the moment you are stunned in something that kills.
